Why Consider Tile

Make a statement that will last for generations. From bright and bold to timeless, neutral, and elegant, tile comes in a variety of colors, shapes, and finishes and can be placed in a variety of patterns. Typically tile is offered in either porcelain or ceramic options.

Here are some benefits of tile:

  • Extremely durable and easy to clean and maintain
  • Resistant to water, cracks, chips, stains
  • Lots of styles to choose from
  • They can be heated
  • They are an allergy friendly flooring
  • Can last 50+ years with proper care

Porcelain

This porcelain tile is a specialized subtype of ceramic tile with a more dense and durable construction. They are typically smooth and cool to the touch making it a great fit for warmer climates. If you would prefer a warmer feel underfoot, consider a radiant heating system.

Visually, they can be left in their beautiful, natural state or printed to look like stone, wood, concrete, deco patterns and more. They can be unglazed or can have a top layer of glaze applied to make the tile long-lasting and more stain resistant.

Ceramic

This clay and mineral based tile is kiln-fired at a lower temperature and creates a porous texture with lots of character. Ceramic tile is less dense than porcelain tile making it a slightly less durable, more affordable option.

But many ceramic tile options are still quite strong, damage resistant and moisture resistant, making them a great solution for your kitchen or bathroom. Similar to porcelain, you can have a radiant heating system beneath the tile for a warmer temperature feel.

Tile Flooring FAQs

Yes—tile is durable, low-maintenance, and available in many styles. It’s especially well-suited for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and entryways due to its resistance to water and stains.

In some cases, yes—tile can be installed over old tile, vinyl, or concrete, as long as the surface is clean, level, and in good condition. A professional installer can assess if your current floor is suitable.

Porcelain and ceramic tile themselves are water-resistant, but the grout in between is porous. Using a high-quality sealer on the grout helps prevent water from seeping through.

Tile can feel cool and firm, which is great in warm climates. To make it more comfortable, you can add area rugs or consider installing radiant heat underneath.

Tile is one of the most durable flooring options and can last 20 years or more with proper care. It resists scratches, moisture, and wear, making it a long-term investment.

Sweep or vacuum regularly and mop with a mild cleaner. Sealing grout every few years helps keep it looking clean and prevents staining.

Tile installation requires precision and experience, especially when working around corners and transitions. For best results, we recommend professional installation.

Tile is very durable, but heavy impacts or improper installation can cause chips or cracks. Choosing the right tile grade and using a solid underlayment helps prevent damage.

Yes—tile is a popular, long-lasting flooring choice that can improve the value and appeal of your home, especially in kitchens, bathrooms, and entryways.
